The full course was in play for the first time since the end of November, with the main competition being the singles stableford on Sunday. The Captain Neil Guckian (10) won for the third time since taking over the captaincy in December with 44 points. Birdies at seven and eleven interspersed many pars as the ‘Big Dote’ goes from strength to strength. A break of tie was required for second and third places between Brian Stewart (21) and Gerry Guckian (16), and Brian’s better back nine gave him the higher finish. The first gross prize of the season went to Willie Havlin with 33 points, and the nines to Liam Edwards (24 points) and Kevin Lake (26 points). The C.S.S. was 38 points.
On Saturday Shaun Doherty (23) claimed his second prize of the year as he finished with 39 points and a reduction in his handicap to 21.
This coming weekend a ladies and gents stableford will be played on the Saturday and a singles stableford on the Sunday.

*********************************************************************

With only one round of matches to be played, both sections still have to be decided. In section A Veronica Harkin and Pauline Casey are unbeaten with 9 points, but Kathleen Faulkner and Catherine Cosgrove are within touching distance with 7 points. Section B is even tighter and the possibility of a play off is realistic. Isobel McCafferty and Maeve McClenaghan lead with 9 points, and Siobhan McLaughlin and Marian Devlin are best placed with 8 points. Two further pairings (Anne Vekins & Mary Brennan and Joan Hegarty & Helen Cosgrove) still have outside chances sitting as they do on 7 points
